The 40th Spice Island Billfish Tournament will take place on January the 20th-23rd 2009

Entry Fee: The entry fee for this tournament is EC$400 per angler (US$150).

Team Composition: Teams are restricted to not less than three registered anglers.

Registration: At the Grenada Yacht Club (GYC) between 10.00am and 4.00pm on January 19th, 2009. Late registration will be subject to an additional cost of US$50 per boat. No registration after 5.00pm will be allowed.

Briefing: A briefing for all anglers will be held at GYC from 6:00pm on January 19th. Cocktails will be served after the briefing.

Marine facilities: Fuel and water are available at the GYC. Free dockage is reserved for paid up boats on a first come first served basis for the period January 18th to 24th, 2009. The Committee attempts to make the above facilities available to all boats but they are provided at the discretion of the GYC management. Customs and Immigration facilities will be available at the GYC.

Communications: All participating boats should have a working ship-to-shore (VHF) radio on board at all times. Boats must check in and out with Billfish control each day. Tournament Control radio hours are from 6:00am to lines up on fishing days. Information on which VHF channels are to be used will be given at the briefing.

Parade and Bimini Start: There will be a parade of boats through the carenage area starting at 7.00am. This will be followed by the usual Bimini start at 7:30am on January 20th. Details of the parade & start will be given at the briefing. Boats must complete both the parade & bimini start in order to be awarded the 300 points.Boats must check in with Tournament Control prior to 7:00am on the 20th to verify their participation.

Prize Giving and Buffet Dinner: An informal prize giving and buffet dinner will be held on the 23rd at the Grenada yacht Club, starting at 6:30pm. Additional guests will be required to pay EC$60.00

HEAVIEST FISH:

EC$30,000 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for Blue Marlin (currently 669lbs).

EC$20,000 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for White Marlin (currently 82lbs).

EC$10,000 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for Sailfish (currently 77.6lbs).

EC$5,000 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for Yellowfin Tuna (currently 173lbs) Should the record not be broken, EC$500 will be awarded to the angler who lands the heaviest Yellowfin Tuna.

EC$1,500 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for Wahoo (currently 66lbs). Should the record not be broken, EC$300 will be awarded to the angler who lands the heaviest Wahoo.

EC$1,000 will be awarded to the angler who breaks the existing Tournament Weight record for Dolphin (currently 53lbs). Should the record not be broken, EC$200 will be awarded to the angler who lands the heaviest Dolphin.

Bait/Ice: Fresh bait and ice will be supplied free of charge, subject to availability.
